Discover the island that's been ranked as the most beautiful by Conde Nast Traveler magazine. Cape Breton Island truly offers a world of wondrous sightseeing opportunities that include the famous Cabot Trail.
Cape Breton Island's most famous resident, Alexander Graham Bell, once said, "I have travelled around the globe. I have seen the Canadian and American Rockies, the Andes, the Alps and the Highlands of Scotland, but for simple beauty, Cape Breton outrivals them all."
Scottish traditions and Gaelic folklore come alive on this delightful three-day tour. This tour is a portion of our 13 Day Atlantic Maritimes tour.
Day 1: Halifax, NS to Baddeck, NS
Depart Halifax on your included transfer to New Glasgow to meet your Tour Director and board the touring coach. Then proceed to Cape Breton Island - "the Scotland of North America." Visit the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site in Baddeck to marvel at the many accomplishments of this genius. Spend two nights at a charming lakeside resort in the heart of Baddeck. (D)
Option: You may wish to add nights in Halifax or a city tour to your vacation package. Bursting with culture and rich history, Nova Scotia's capital city has much to offer.
Day 2: Cabot Trail Touring
We're off to experience one of the most stunningly picturesque drives in North America. The Cabot Trail winds around the rocky splendor of Cape Breton's northern shore, ascending to the incredible plateaus of Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Look-offs offer unforgettable vistas of Cape Breton's rugged coastline so be sure to have your camera on hand. Our day is complimented by a Whale Watching Boat Tour (weather permitting). (B, Box L, D)
Day 3: Baddeck, NS to Halifax, NS
The Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site awaits you. This reconstruction recreates one-fifth of the town of 1744 - words will not do justice to the scope of this tribute to New France. Roam the streets talking with some of the costumed guides who remain in character, or sample the sustenance of the era. Your tour continues along the shores of Bras d'Or to the mainland. The tour ends upon arrival in Halifax. (B)
