Mastodon Ridge & Showcase Nova Scotia
At Exit 11 off Hwy 102, Stewiacke

Lifesize replica of 89,000-year-old mastodon, whose bones were discovered in this area. Museum features brief audio-visual presentations on Nova Scotia’s past; mini-theatre with 10-min film highlighting the breathtaking scenery of the province; indoor fossil discovery area for children. 18 hole mini-golf.

A 50-acre park set in natural woodlands. Many native mammals & birds, and a few exotic species. Park animals are wild; adults must accompany children.

The Ship's Company Theatre

Ship's Company Theatre offers a unique venue and a theatrical experience. The stage is a ship: the MV Kipawo, last of the Minas Basin ferries. A highly acclaimed and innovative professional company, the productions are Canadian plays with an emphasis on new works from Atlantic Canadian playwrights.

Tidal Bore
Truro Area, Truro

A wave of water that moves upstream against the current. Popular spots for watching the tidal bore are: Salmon River, outside Truro, Hwy 102, Exit 14, to Rte 236 to Tidal Bore Rd; Caddell Rapids Lookoff; Maccan and River Hebert, Rte 242 to bridges, where signs indicate tidal bore times.

Tidal Bore: World's Highest Tides

Nova Scotia's Bay of Fundy is home to the highest tides in the world. When you visit Nova Scotia you'll discover a seacoast destination like no other. Twice daily in the Bay of Fundy, 100 billion tonnes of water sweep into a funnel-shaped cleft between two land masses, creating the world's highest tides. These powerful tides scour fantastic shapes in the land and provide feeding grounds for an amazing range of birds, fish and marine mammals. Tour a Mine, Springhill Miners' Museum
145 Black River Rd, Springhill, Off Rte 2,

Tour the depths of a Springhill coalmine, famous in song and legend, with a knowledgeable guide. Hear stories of the disaster of 1891, the 1916 subterranean fire that raged through the galleries, the loss of 39 men in the 1956 explosion and the major “bump” in 1958 that killed 75 men. Museum displays unique artifacts of the history of the town and its remarkable industrial heritage.
