Marconi National Historic Site of Canada
Timmerman St, Glace Bay

The site where Guglielmo Marconi initiated the age of global communications a century ago. In December 1902, an official wireless message beamed across the Atlantic, heralding a new era of communication. Discover the genius of the scientists who pioneered today’s technology. Exhibits include a model of the original Table Head station.

Miners' Museum
42 Birkley St. Quarry Point (off South St). Glace Bay

“A focus on the contribution of the coal miner and coal in the continuing advance of civilization.” Many exhibit; guided tour of the Ocean Deeps Colliery; simulated mine ride. The Miners’ Village features a company store and a home from the period 1850–1900. Tickets to Men of the Deeps concerts (call 1 week in advance).

Sydney and Louisburg Railway Museum
Louisbourg

The restored railway station (1895) exhibits the history of the S&L Railway, railway technology and marine artifacts. The original freight shed houses a working model of the line. Rolling stock includes two passenger cars (1881, 1914), a box car, tank car and caboose. The Roundhouse displays unique memorial quilts. Admission free, donations welcome.

Cape Breton Auld Scottish Games
Regent Street, North Sydney

This event is a complete Highland games: including Highland dancing, ancient heavy weight games, pipers, clan tents, vendors of Scottishwares and plenty of food vendors. There are also plenty of Celtic and locale information booths on site to enjoy. Children's activities are also provided to entertain the young people.

Autumn is the time when the sounds of fiddles, pipes and voices in song echo over the island with Celtic Colors International Festival.
