Port-la-Joye--Fort Amherst National Historic Site

Here the French established the first European settlement
on the Island in 1720. When the British captured Port-la-Joye in 1758
they built Fort Amherst in the same location. The earthworks of the
British fort are still visible. Visitor centre with bilingual guides.
Cultural interpretive events held regularly during July/August. Picnic
area with excellent view of Charlottetown Harbour.
Province House National Historic Site

Considered the "Birthplace of Confederation," the first
meeting to discuss federal union was held here in 1864. The
Confederation Chamber and several other rooms have been restored to
their 19th-century Victorian appearance. The building houses the
Provincial Legislature, award-winning film "A Great Dream," exhibits
and gift shop. Historical programs offered daily in summer. Special
guided tours for nominal fee.

Ardgowan National Historic Site

Ardgowan was the home of William Henry Pope, one of the
Fathers of Confederation, and was the scene of a grand reception for
delegates to the 1864 Charlottetown Conference. Ardgowan houses the
provincial office of Parks Canada.

Beaconsfield
Historic House
2 Kent St.
Built in 1877, Beaconsfield Historic House is an enduring
symbol of Victorian elegance. Tour its Victorian furnished rooms and
enjoy the wonderful view of Charlottetown Harbour from the verandah and
flower garden. Events include the "Great PEI Children's Festival"
playing July and Aug.

Over 20 automobiles, tractors,
farm equipment, wheeled vehicles from the 19th century. Includes a 1959
Cadillac owned by Elvis Presley, 1898 Mason steam car, 1914 tractor,
well-restored farm machinery.

Charlottetown. The Charlottetown Driving Park is the showplace of
Maritime harness racing. It's a "sure bet" that you'll enjoy a night of
top-notch professional racing at "the Maritimes' most beautiful race
track. Children are fascinated by the horses and the excitement of
racing. CDP has also earned a reputation for great trackside comfort,
including delicious food and Sports Club excitement. Year round
simulcasting.

Hall - Canada's Birthplace Pavilion
Located on the historic Charlottetown Waterfront
Founders' Hall is a 21,000 sq.
ft.
heritage attraction, restaurant and retail boutique. Visitors are
transported to 1864 when the Fathers of Confederation first met to
discuss the union of Canada. You will "live" our nation's history from
1864 to present day through multi-million dollar state-of-the-art
displays, multimedia and new technology.

House
Built in 1832, Fanningbank
Historic
House is the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor and is an
enduring symbol of Victorian elegance. Tour guides will walk you
through this magnificent building and explain the history and
furnishings, and offer information on past Lieutenant Governors. After
the tour, walk through the beautiful flower gardens located on this
scenic waterfront property. House is open July and August.

Old
Home Week/PEI Provincial Exhibition
Old Home Week is the century old tradition of Island
summers! Showcasing livestock, light and heavy horses, Home arts and
crafts, and Christmas tree competitions. Featuring live daily family
entertainment and Campbell Amusements. Charlottetown Driving Park
features 15 harness racing cards ending with the prestigious Gold Cup
& Saucer Race.
